Lately I've been having a daily smoothie that contains
spirulina in powder form. Spirulina is a dietary supplement made from blue-green algae and it contains protein, essential fatty acids, as well as various vitamins and minerals.
Some people dispute whether or not spirulina is as good as many claim it is, however, I still enjoy it for the taste it adds to my smoothies (and if I know it's not going to harm me, I'm not losing out of anything by consuming it).
I wish I had an awesome smoothie photo to show you, but, alas, I do not. I will share how I make my smoothies though!
Ingredients1 cup of fruit juice of your choice, preferably freshly squeezed
1 banana (the larger the banana, the thicker the smoothie)
1 tsp spirulina powder
MethodBlend all ingredients together in a blender, or with a stick blender, until smooth.
Serves 1.
Smoothie recipes are endless. You can put almost anything in them and they're so much fun to experiment with (remember they don't always need to be fruity ones - try vegetable, too), so I hope you give them a go. If you're already a smoothie afficionado, why not post some of your favourite combinations in the comments?
